Anonymization and Aggregation Workshop: De-identification & Access to Microdata

To set forward a campaign to make UNHCR’s registration data more accessible, the JDC, in partnership with the Government of Estonia, organized a two-day workshop on Anonymization and Aggregation practices in May 2020. This workshop sought to determine available techniques and best practices for open data access, covering topics on standards, methods, and innovations in data anonymization. This sessions focussed on data security, spatial anonymization, and user agreements; data stewardship; usability of aggregated data for operational applications and academic analysis; advancing UNHCR’s registration data protection and dissemination agenda; and extensions to other data producers with sensitive socioeconomic data standards, methods, and innovations.
