This report is based on analysis of the Hosts and Refugees in the Malaysian Economy (HARMONY) Survey—the first systematic and detailed survey comparing refugee and host community households in Malaysia. A collaboration between UNHCR and the World Bank, this study aims to generate a holistic picture of refugees’ human capital and skills, working conditions, and economic well-being as informal workers in Malaysia. Through the generation of comparative economic data on refugees and host communities, the HARMONY Survey seeks to contribute to the development of policies and actions related to refugees’ access to productive and decent work. It provides a basis for comparative analyses of the socioeconomic and labor market profiles of different groups of refugees with host communities in Malaysia.
